Wow! Your ‘about me’ page kept getting better and better. I love the fact that you are a playwright and a reporter along with the being a full time teacher and now student. It doesn’t seem possible; we are definitely in the presence of a special individual. I am impressed and envious of your experience, background and passion.
I also find myself strangely disconnected - from home, family, the TV, etc., and yet, not really missing it either.
I noticed on your webpage that you are and advocate for dyslexia - have you heard of or done any work with Susan Barton from CA? She is amazing and runs institutes where you can get certified in dyslexia diagnosis and training.
These are two weeks that I have challenged myself, handling my time, and stopping my activities and responsibilities for 3 weeks in California, how many of you, surely did in your own cities. How a busy, but great summer, I am living in Bennington College. For a week, I have forgotten to check up my voice mail and it has been full all these days. It is so strange that I am not speeding on the 101 N. Freeway going to San Francisco or San Jose for working every day. The TV is not really important, I do not have to listen to the radio news neither, and the contact that I have with the real world is this laptop with the internet, and the newspaper that Bryan, the super cook, post in the dinner room. Tired? Yes, but it is the price to pay in order to become a better teacher and a better human being. My neck and my shoulders hurts almost everyday, but the wonderful classmates, the great teachers, the picnic at the park with Bennington College, and the super cooks, Bryan + Bryan make me feel comfortable and happy to belong to this MATSL program. When I feel hitting the wall, I just take a little nap, If I can or I breath deeply. Go Bennington!
Veronica Meza earned a bachelor’s degree in Literature and Drama from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, with additional study at The National Institute of Arts in Mexico City. In this city, she was a Spanish and Drama teacher in junior and high school. She moved to Los Angeles, California, where she created the Spanish Literacy Program at the Job Placement Center in Los Angeles Harbor College, teaching adult people in the native language Spanish, and leading them from elementary education until getting the GED diploma.
Veronica has worked at GMS as a Spanish teacher since 2001. She has 12 years experience, working with kids, teenagers and adults. Veronica is the founder of the local Spanish theater group, Teatro Nahual, where she teaches acting classes at The National Hispanic University and MACLA in San Jose, CA. In addition, she is a playwright and a reporter in Alianza Metropolitan News.
